American Travesty

        A buffoon,
Cruel and desperate,
Cheered by his foolish crowd,
Laughing at trauma,
Turning pain into sport.

Wrapped in scandal,
Driven by greed,
A con man in the office
We once believed.

Never has a presidency
Fallen so low,
So drenched in contempt
That even scorn rings hollow.

Watch as our republic dies
In the vacant eyes
Of a fool drunk on false majesty,
Unable to summon humanity

But there he sits,
Behind the seal,
Mocking us all
While fools applaud.

And so unfolds our somber American travesty.
